STATE REPRESENTATIVE ELAINE GANNON ANNOUNCES RE-ELECTION BID FOR 115th DISTRICT
State Representative Elaine Gannon (R) announced today that she is seeking re-election to represent the 115th District in Missouri’s House of Representatives.
The 63-year-old Republican has served two terms in the state legislature, focusing on jobs, education and economic development for her constituents in Jefferson, St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties.
“It’s been a challenging and rewarding job to represent the people of the 115th District in Jefferson City,” Gannon said. “We’ve generated some positive momentum on a lot of different issues, and I’m looking forward to building on the progress we’ve made in last three plus years.”.
Gannon spent last session on the Appropriations Committee for Elementary and Secondary Education in the Missouri House, as well as serving as vice chair of the Emerging Issues in Education Committee. She’s also on two additional committees–Children & Families with Disabilities, and Trade and Tourism.
“I spent 32 years as a teacher and a coach and I’ve seen first-hand how important it is to give our young people the best educational opportunities possible,” Gannon said. “We need well-funded schools, small class sizes and not be afraid to challenge students academically. Our schools are the center of many communities throughout the district, and state government needs to do everything it can to make them successful.”
Gannon is the mother of two sons, and married to businessman Dennis Gannon. Her father-in-law is former State Senator Jack Gannon (D-De Soto).
On economic issues, Gannon said she’s committed to promoting growth on a variety of fronts.
“I represent everyone in the district,” she said. “Small businesses, school employees, farmers, union workers, seniors and people from every profession. I will continue to represent their best interests in Jefferson City.”
